KJMU Really Helps Residents

Assistance for education costs through the Jakarta Excellent Student Card (KJMU) program is very beneficial for residents. KJMU provides opportunities for disadvantaged residents to continue their education at tertiary level.

My child being able to go to college

One of the residents from RT 04/01, Paseban Urban Village, Senen Sub-district, Central Jakarta, Endang (49) admitted that she was very happy with the KJMU program.

"My child being able to go to college and this is no longer a dream with educational assistance from KJMU," she expressed when being met at the Jakarta Education Agency (Disdik)'s Personal and Operational Education Funding Service Center, Rawa Bunga Urban Village, Jatinegara, East Jakarta, Thursday (3/7).

This mother of four children, whose daily work is as an online motorbike taxi driver, said that her first child can now study at the State Islamic University (UIN) Sunan Gunung Jati, Bandung, West Java.

"As a single parent woman, I can't pay for my children's college and school fees. Alhamdulillah (thank God), my children who are still in high school, middle school, and elementary school also get help from the Jakarta Smart Card," she explained.

She had received educational assistance from KJMU since the first semester amounting to Rp 9 million. Rp 3.5 million was used to pay semester fees and the rest was used for boarding fees and daily needs there.

"Thank you to the Acting Governor who has helped underprivileged residents through the KJMU and KJP programs," she explained.

The same action also came from a resident from Meruya Selatan, Kebon Jeruk, West Jakarta, Ely Rudi (48). She believed that many poor families relied on KJP and KJMU to send their children to school.

"My child was able to study at Mercu Buana University thanks to KJMU. Thank you, Mr. Governor, for continuing to assist with education costs," she stressed.

She explained the process of managing KJMU was very easy. However, due to limited knowledge, she finally came directly to P4OP to get assistance.

"I came here to re-verify my data. It turned out that the problem I was logging in was because I had the wrong password," she stated.
